Maria Becerra, established as one of the most important artists in Latin American music, makes her Netflix debut with both her acting and her music through “7 Vidas”, the official song of En el Barro, the highly anticipated spin-off of the acclaimed series El Marginal, produced by Netflix and Underground, a division of Telemundo Studios which has ranked in the global Top 3 on the platform since its premiere.
The artist not only performs the series official song, but also steps into the role of Cleo, a young woman from the neighborhood who falls in love and faces motherhood while struggling to keep her child close in the midst of extreme circumstances. After being caught up in one of her partner’s scams, she ends up in jail and is extorted from behind bars in order to preserve her bond with her son. Through this character, Maria portrays the fight for motherhood and the sacrifices made under adverse conditions.
The track “7 Vidas”, produced by Xross, will also be featured on Maria’s upcoming album, set to be released at the end of the year, which will explore the artist’s different alter egos. The song belongs to the alter ego Gladys and conveys the pain and betrayal she experiences in the story.
The official music video expands Cleo’s narrative through Gladys, depicting her anguish over being separated from her son and the tension of being taken away by the police. The piece offers a deeper look into the character’s emotional struggles and desperation, complementing the storyline of the series.
With this new release and her acting debut, Maria reaffirms her artistic versatility and her ability to connect with audiences both through music and performance, further consolidating her presence on the international scene. In addition, she recently announced her historic shows at River Plate Stadium in a 360° format — the first of its kind at the venue — with over 85,000 attendees per night, making her the first Argentine woman to perform four shows at this iconic stadium.
